Since 1880, the same simple idea: always by your side. Founded in 1880 under the Luxembourgish name Luxemburger Sterbekassenverein (death benefit fund), the mutual insurance company became Caisse Générale de Prévoyance in 1922, then adopted its current name, Caisse Générale de Prévoyance Mutualiste (CGPM), in 2020. Our bylaws are regularly updated to remain relevant and clear.
A recognized mutual insurance company, serving everyone. At CGPM, we don’t “sell” anything: we stand united by your side. As a non-profit mutual insurance company, the CGPM is here to protect its members, not to pay dividends to shareholders. Every euro collected is used to fund solidarity benefits (health & physical therapy, ambulance service, birth allowance, death benefit) and to sustain the organization. At the CGPM, we pool our resources to protect one another. Decisions are made collectively, and the ultimate goal is the best interests of our members. Nothing else!
A clear mission: to help when costs become a burden. The CGPM supports its members when your healthcare budget is stretched: a birth or adoption bonus to welcome your child, assistance when medical care and physical therapy costs mount up, coverage of ambulance transportation so that emergencies never become a financial burden, and prompt support to ease the burden on loved ones in the event of a death. To ensure fairness over time, premiums and benefits are indexed to the 100 Index (STATEC); if necessary, they may be subject to adjustments decided collectively and clearly announced.
Open membership and a mutualist approach. Open to everyone aged 18 and over, the CGPM welcomes Luxembourg residents and cross-border workers. Membership automatically includes benefits from the Internal Relief Fund (FSI), the heart of our solidarity. Governance is democratic: an elected Board of Directors and a General Assembly steer the mutual. Changes to the bylaws are approved by the Minister of Social Security and published in the electronic registry.
